Freedom from the Fear of Death!
Katha Upanishad is all about self-knowledge. The story of Nachiketas and Yama, the Lord of Death, is the story of original innocence. Nachiketas was firmly established in the nature of his own innocence. He required no extra courage to stand before Death and receive the teachings that would lead to full self-realization.
Death is a great mystery. Innocence is a mystery to rival, perhaps even surpass it. There is as much fear in the recollection of our true nature as there is in dying. They are equivalent. Katha Upanishad shows us that it is necessary to dissect the nature of fear itself if we are to be allowed to uncover the true nature of Self.
